Editorial Reviews:

For 200 years, Vault 101, a fallout shelter, has served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants. Yet one morning, you awake to find that your father has left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father. Fallout 3 is a singleplayer action role-playing game (RPG) that combines the horrific insanity of the Cold War era theory of mutually assured destruction gone terribly wrong with the kitschy naivety of American 1950s nuclear propaganda.

Mind-Blowing Artificial Intelligence - Radiant AI, America's First Choice in Human Interaction Simulation. Facial expressions, gestures, unique dialog, and lifelike behavior are brought together with stunning results Eye-Popping Prettiness - Witness the harsh realities of nuclear fallout rendered like never before in modern super-deluxe HD graphics

Summary: Good RPG, but short
Comment: Good mechanics, story line is out of place but has depth. Game uses same engine as Oblivion, but is overall smaller.

Summary: Amazing game
Comment: I know this review will probably be the shortest one but I just wanted to say something:

As a fan of both Fallout and Fallout 2 when they first came out (heck, still today), Fallout 3 delivers in every possible way.

Graphics, sound, gameplay, art, everything is top notch.

It is a must buy.

Summary: Another Winning Chapter
Comment: I was expecting more of a 3rd-person strategy setup based on previous titles, but really like the hybrid first-person shooter with option to tap into slow-mo "action points." Destroyed landscape is well done graphically, although a little repetitive. Likewise the enemies--a bit repetitive, without terrific AE even on "hard" (they're harder to kill, but not any smarter!). Plenty of gameplay if you like sneaking around, exploring, and collecting stuff.

Biggest frustration is game stutters--freezes up for a few seconds on a regular basis. Read forums for solutions. Un-oc'ing my computer helped a lot, but it still happens sometimes. Also not running the fastest hardware--3.0 SATA hard drive, XP 4200+, 2 gb DDR ram, Geforce 8800gt. Working on my wish list on NewE** :-)

Summary: Freakin Awsome!
Comment: Another totally awsome game from Bethesda. The compelling storyline and dialouge along with the explosions and giblets make it in my opinion to be the best FPS RPG ive ever seen.

Summary: Fallout 3 continues the post-apocalyptic blood line
Comment: As a fan of the original Fallout games 1 & 2 and even Fallout tactics to a certain degree I had very high hopes for Fallout 3. They were so high in fact that I was afraid I was setting myself up to be let down as is often the case with games. Thanks to the father of Atom, this was not the case with Fallout 3. This game rocks from start to finish, that is if you ever can really finish this game. I have logged over 100 hours exploring the wasteland and downtown DC and I still hear people talk about locations, events and NPCs that I've yet to see. The games combat is wasteland-brutal just like it should be and can be played at fast pace in real-time or slowed down to all it's exit wound glory using the VATS system. Combining these two will keep you entertained with combat for dozens of hours (I'm still not tired of it at all after 100 hours of play) and it also fits the game into the modern era because when you can have this why would you want to have another game in fixed isotermic perspective like the old ones. The main quest isn't tediously long but there is plenty of side-quests and points of interest to keep you running around the map with wide-eyed anticipation for the entirety of the game. There a couple bugs regardless of the version you're playing but word on the street is that a patch is coming soon and we can expect Bethesda to take care of the issues. If you want the best visuals out of Fallout 3 it shouldn't be a surprise that you'll find them on a PC with some horsepower but the Xbox 360 version will suffice for casual gamers. I've been able to run the game on max settings with consistent 60-80 FPS. There isn't a better post-apocalyptic game out there and this is the best RPG in years.
